MAPA Architects has created a Passivhaus in the Buenos Aires Delta that works with water levels to respond to environmental conditions.
The project is closely linked to the Paraná Miní River, one of the main channels of the delta that serves as a street, square and public space. It is designed as a Passivhaus that allows for the passage of the periodic floods, to rethink ways of living and building in the territory in a sustainable way.
The house is built with modular structures of laminated reforestation wood and a dry construction system of prefabricated panels, the design of which is based on bioclimatic design criteria. Using passive strategies together with active energy generation and air renewal systems, the project is in the final stages of becoming the first Passivhaus-certificated house in Argentina.
This project has been shortlisted in the rural house category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
