Baicai Design has created an ephemeral space for a local cafe that marries two much-loved beverages, set within a gallery space located in a Chinese city synonymous with beer.
The project is a month-long pop-up shop at the Window Gallery space in Shenyang, a city with a love for beer.
The design utilises 300 beer cases to create a bar counter at the centre of the pop up shop. The monumental scale of the bar counter forms the pivot of the space, engaging visitors in an immersive and interactive experience.
The project experiments with the confluence between beer and coffee, bridging meaningful dialogues between what is local and what is imported.
This project has been shortlisted in the small interiors category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
