Public vote winner for restaurant and bar interior of the year: Enter Projects Asia has designed Spice & Barley in Bangkok, Thailand.
This project is an ultra-modern restaurant that showcases a billowing rattan structure seeking to embrace and invigorate innovation and eco-awareness.
"In our signature style, we see a hybridisation of 3D technology and Thai traditional craft," said designers Enter Projects Asia. "The natural and renewable rattan unfurls over a sprawling 9m-high space with digitally-generated structures and the Bangkok skyline as its backdrop."
The site overlooks the Chao Priya River and the natural rattan structures act as twin towers, referencing the high-rise towers in the backdrop. The vast geometries flood the ceiling in an uninterrupted balustrade of twists and turns which bounce the light and become a beacon from far away.
In line with the original brief, the design sensibilities at Spice & Barley are intrinsically Asian-fusion – a phenomenal marriage of ideas, creating a space in which you innately sense that the client and designers have understood one another perfectly.
