Patrizia Moroso
Patrizia Moroso is the art director of Moroso, a family-run furniture business established in 1952.
Moroso joined the management team in the mid-eighties and helped transform the firm into a leading international design brand.
Fusing technology and handcrafting techniques, Moroso has built up a diverse collection of designs reflecting different cultural tastes whilst maintaining a coherent identity.
In the early 2000s she started collaborating with contemporary artists including Taiwanese painter Michael Lin, German sculptor Tobias Rehberger and in 2010, Brooklyn-based installation artist Francesco Simeti and Italian designer Andrea Sala.
Moroso's designs have been displayed worldwide including at New York's MoMA, the Palais de Tokyo and Grand Palais in Paris and Venice Biennale. In 2010 the Italian Ministry for Innovation awarded Philippe Bestenheider's Nanook chair for Moroso the national award for innovation presented to Moroso by then president of Italy Giorgio Napolitano.
Alongside curator Andrea Bruciati, she also set up the Moroso award for contemporary art in 2010. The three winners are granted residencies in London, New York or Milan to exhibit their works in the Moroso showroom during each city's contemporary art fair.
