Thom Mayne
Thom Mayne is founder of Morphosis Architects, an interdisciplinary practice involved in experimental design, architecture and research.
In 1972 he co-founded the Southern California Institute of Architecture in Los Angeles. Mayne has held teaching positions at Columbia, Yale, the Harvard Graduate School of Design, the Bartlett School of Architecture in London and the University of Pennsylvania.
Mayne was honored with the Pritzker Prize in 2005 and the American Institute of Architects Gold Medal in 2013. He served on the President’s Committee for Arts and Humanities between 2009 to 2016.
Recognised internationally for his artwork, Mayne has exhibited in institutions including the MoMA, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Chicago Art Institute.
Recent publications include Strange Networks in 2022 and M3 in 2023. Mayne continues his investigations at Stray Dog Café, an art and research space at Morphosis, where he leads his personal research, artwork and publications in collaboration with students and young designers.
