vPPR Architects has developed Stepped House in London, United Kingdom.

Stepped House is a four-bedroom, two-storey detached house built across the rear of three under-utilised back gardens in North London to create one low-carbon emission home.

The unusual diamond-shaped plan was generated by extending the existing building lines from the surrounding street pattern. By making use of the geometry of the building, the house was divided into three sections with a varying roof profile – while providing visual interest for the neighbouring properties.

"The house celebrates and brings emphasis to the unusual rhomboid geometry of the site," said vPPR Architects.

This project has been longlisted in the urban house category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
