Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects, Mikkelsen Architects and STED has designed Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen (SDCC) in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen (SDCC) is Northern Europe's largest hospital for the prevention and treatment of diabetes.
"It redefines how we perceive sickness and health, as it draws on the science behind how architecture combined with nature can not only treat but also prevent and educate," said Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects.
Designed in cooperation with users, the hospital incorporates warm materials, strategic flows and daylight.
SDCC is organised around a two-storey landscape solution where smaller theme-based educational courtyards are centred on a public rooftop garden – with the landscape amounting to half of the project area.
This project has been longlisted in the health and wellbeing project category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
