London's emerging Fardaa studio has transformed a derelict basalt barn into Scotland's Croft 3 restaurant.

Spread across a refurbished stone barn and a new larch-clad extension, Fardaa's debut project aims to strike a balance between old and new.

The barn's restoration, featuring lime mortar, exposed timber beams and rectilinear windows, seeks to harmonise with the existing structure.

Inside, the main dining hall flaunts salmon-hued plaster walls, American white ash flooring and communal tables sculpted from a single Douglas fir.

The sustainable design integrates timber and site-sourced stone, reflecting the rustic essence of the Isle of Mull's coast.

This project has been longlisted in the heritage project category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
