Thoma Architekten has built Triangle, Shingles and Energy: Three Elements for an Artwork in Leipzig, Germany.
This project developed a curtain wall of the combined heat and power plant (CHP) in Leipzig consisting of a facade finish of 10 differently sized triangular shingles.
The triangles made of anodised aluminium are arranged in such a way that the course of the shingles is shown as a vortex on the facade.
The design of the building envelope adorns the combined heat and power plant and the polished, matt-reflecting shingle surface allows the building to immerse into its surroundings.
"Through our unique facade design, the building contributes to an atmospheric enhancement for the city and society," said Thoma Architekten.
This project has been longlisted in the infrastructure and transport project category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
