Offhand Practice has created the design for the XiaoZhuo flagship store in Shanghai, China.

Inspired by the surrounding winding road, a curved green path was implanted into the site – a directional route that blurs the boundaries of the surroundings, the outdoors and the main building.

Void spaces in the interior exist for natural light to penetrate from the upper to the lower storey, binding the fragmented internal five stories.

The curved green path comprises textured concrete and soft wool carpet for the merchandise.

"The contrast between the roughness and softness in texture and the coldness and warmness in material conflict with one another and yet, harmonise," said Offhand Practice.

This project has been longlisted in the retail interior (large) category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
