Futurewave has designed a smartwatch that provides users with an emergency alert system, even in the most remote areas of the world.

Unlike traditional smartwatches, O-Boy employs a satellite-based system that works independently of phone networks, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity and protection.

In emergencies, O-Boy sends distress signals to the nearest satellite, which then relays the information to a central monitoring system for alerting authorities.

Unlike connected watches with limited coverage, O-Boy's satellite communication spans the entire Earth's surface, with minimal interference following localisation.

The smartwatch aims to democratise high-performing telecommunication technology, enhancing safety for a broader audience.

This project has been longlisted in the product design (consumer design and wearables) category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
