Lorenzo Palmeri Studio has designed an upright piano with a sensory experience.

According to the studio, Nemo's curved, recessed front allows for an enveloping sound distribution and diffusion. Aesthetically, it 'embraces' the pianist, providing a sense of intimacy and focus.

Nemo's central porthole allows a glimpse into the instrument's interior and is a reference to the experience of travel.

The soundboard is handmade in Italy with iron casting details that further enhance Nemo's experience and quality of sound. Meanwhile, the keys are covered in Fenix NTM, a tactile material which also has the benefit of being anti-fingerprint.

This project has been longlisted in the product design (consumer design and wearables) category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
