EME157 has redesigned and upgraded the Three Little Pigs Cork House in Madrid, Spain.
The intervention updates a house built in the 1990s on the outskirts of Madrid – consisting of a cubical volume made of red brick, interrupted by a double-height oblique porch where 100-year-old pine trees surround the house.
"It seemed important to us to blend in with the surroundings and therefore, our starting point was the use of cork as the main material of the project covering the facades of the cube," told EME157.
On the interior, a sliding cork door runs lengthwise and divides the entire house, creating different relationships between the server and served spaces – depending on the needs of the owners.
This project has been longlisted in the sustainable renovation category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
