Paula Cermeño León has designed the Herbier Project, a range of biodegradable face masks.
The Herbier Project is a range of biodegradable cosmetic masks that are dry-infused with plant-based formulas.
The formulas are made with the extracts of Swiss plants – while the mask material is made from plant fibres, a by-product of plant extraction.
When the masks are moistened with water, the patches become soft and release the active ingredients into the skin.
The product range targets two regions of the face: the T-zone (forehead, nose and chin) and the zone under the eyes. Once used, the mask can be composted at home.
This project has been longlisted in the material innovation category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
