Craftspeople of Japanese prefecture Gifu and London-based studio Hayatsu Architects collaborate to showcase a sculptural seating installation titled Hana Mikoshi at this year's London Design Festival.
Translating to 'shrine of flowers', Hana Mikoshi consists of 50,000 washi paper flowers that are reminiscent of cherry blossoms, handmade by artisans in Japan.
This interactive installation allows visitors to decorate the structure with the flowers – the installation will gradually take its completed form at the end of summer.
Hana Mikoshi takes place from 16 to 24 September 2023 at V&A South Kensington, Cromwell Road, London SW7 2RL, UK.
