Open Architecture drew inspiration from Classical Chinese gardens for Shanfeng Academy, a culture and sports centre in Suzhou.

The complex features a theatre, gallery, library, cafe, sports, and dance facilities, divided into five blocks.

Themed gardens representing the four seasons separate the blocks, creating a dynamic roofline of curved, angular, and rectilinear forms.

Elevated walkways connect the structures, mirroring Suzhou's Classical Gardens. The white-concrete facade is punctuated by irregular openings, offering diverse views.

With Shanfeng Academy, Open Architecture aims to blend tradition and modernity, creating a rich spatial experience within the lively district of Suzhou.

This project has been shortlisted in the cultural project category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
