Sixty-two galleries from 16 countries to exhibit at the 15th edition of PAD London
Promotion: gravity-defying wooden furniture and a monumental light sculpture are among the highlights of this year's PAD London art and design fair, which opens this month in London.
Now in its 15th year, the London version of the fair will take place at its usual spot in London's Berkeley Square, Mayfair from 10 to 15 October 2023.
62 galleries from 16 countries will exhibit work at this year's edition, which follows the 25th edition of PAD Paris.
This year's line-up includes 13 galleries showcasing at the fair for the first time. They include the international sculptural design gallery Galerie Philia, which will stage a specially curated show called Gravity and Grace.
This exhibition brings together brand-new onyx works by eight international designers and artists including Studiopepe, Pietro Franceschini and Andres Monnier.
Also making its PAD London debut is Swiss Belgian gallery Objects with Narratives, which will present bold, gravity-defying wooden furniture by Mircea Anghel and sculptural bronze lighting pieces by Vladimir Slavov.
Joining from Paris, art and design Secret Gallery will present Lala, a stylish cabinet with cloisonné enamel tile decoration by Reda Amalou, and stoneware sculptures by Yann Masseyeff.
Other contemporary design highlights at this year's show include Tree, a monumental light sculpture by Nacho Carbonell and a stone and dyed steel desk by Wonmin Park, which will both be premiered at Carpenters Workshop Gallery.
Swiss gallery Ormond Editions will showcase minimalist furniture and lighting pieces by French creators Garnier & Linker, Belgian architect Glenn Sestig, Seoul and New York-based ceramic artist Yoona Hur and Parisian designer Pieter Maes.
Barcelona's SIDE Gallery returns to the fair this year after making its debut in 2019. This year, the gallery will present the new resin furniture collection called Stacked by Sabine Marcelis.
It will also present the latest works by Charlotte Kingsnorth and Gyuhan Lee, conceived as a reference to the 1970s Global Tools movement spanning Italian Radical Architecture, Arte Povera and Conceptual Art.
Indian designer Vikram Goyal has partnered with Milan-based Nina Yashar's Nilufar Galleries to showcase a new body of intricately detailed metal works made at his New Dehli atelier.
Among this year's exhibitors are artists and designers who are pioneers in their field, according to PAD London. World-renowned textile artists and designers include Finnish-born surface designer Kustaa Saksi as part of Gallery FUMI and Belgian tapestry weavers KRJST Studio, who are part of the Galerie Scène Ouverte exhibit.
Also included is Danish textile artist Signe Emdal, exhibiting with Galerie Maria Wettergren and British artist Teresa Hastings's work via the Sarah Myerscough Gallery.
Fango Studio via SIDE Gallery and ARKO as part of Sarah Myerscough Gallery will present new woven works.
A number of colourful and playful ceramic designs will also be on display, including pieces by Superpoly, Timothée Humbert, Patricia Camet via Florian Daguet-Bresson, Lola Montes Schnabel via Nilufar, Ashraf Hanna via Atelier Adrian Sassoon, Willem van Hooff via SIDE Gallery and Glithero as part of Gallery FUMI.
Norwegian designer Nebil Zaman will showcase his latest plaster works at SIDE gallery, Finnish glass artist Camilla Moberg will introduce a handblown glass and natural stone artwork at Parisian gallery Galerie Maria Wettergren while paper works by Taiwanese artist Pao Hui Kao will be found at Spazio Nobile.
Founded in 2007 by fourth-generation Parisian antique dealer Patrick Perrin, PAD London is the only fair in the UK exclusively dedicated to 20th-century and contemporary design.
