Architects and designers from around the world celebrate at Dezeen Awards 2023 party
Dezeen Awards judges joined architects and designers from all over the world in a ceremony where this year's winners were revealed.
The event at Shoreditch Electric Station in London welcomed guests from 24 different countries including Australia, Japan, USA, China, India and Mexico to celebrate the 50 winners.
The 39 project category winners, followed by the architecture, interiors, design and sustainability project of the year awards, were announced by British broadcaster Laura Jackson.
The six Designers of the Year and the inaugural Bentley Lighthouse Award winner were also announced at the ceremony by the head of design collaborations at Bentley Motors, Chris Cooke.
Guests included Omar Ghandi, Patricia Urquiola, Sumayya Vally, Patrick Schumacher, Patrizia Moroso and Stephen Burks, among others.
Studios Pearson Lloyd, FOG Architecture, Akin Atelier, Uchronia and White Arkitekter were among the winners that attended to collect their Dezeen Awards paper marble trophies – originally designed by Atelier NL but redesigned out of Paper Factor material in collaboration with Bentley.
The winning and highly commended studios also received a certificate and Dezeen Awards bag made from Bentley Lighthouse Award shortlisted studio Notpla's seaweed paper, a collaboration with specialist paper company GF Smith.
London-based The Unlimited Dream Company led the show design and direction for this year's event, which featured installations provided by material sponsors Smile Plastics and Wire Fence – all of which will be reused or go back into the supply chain.
Musicians Gosia Kepa and Connor Chambers performed on a Ceramophone built by Dezeen Awards sponsor Solus Ceramics and Italian stoneware manufacturer Mirage – a unique wooden percussion instrument made with porcelain tiles.
Guests at Shoreditch Electric Light Station also enjoyed drinks provided by this year's Dezeen Awards drinks sponsors Perrier-Jouët, Vapoura, Concha Y Toro, Rumor Rosé, The Newt, and X Muse (available online) and Maestro Dobel (available from House of Spirits), as well as music by DJ Arvenne.
All Dezeen Awards 2023 winners were published on Dezeen last Tuesday evening. Each winner also received a dedicated page on the awards website.
