The Master of Industrial Design program at Georgia Institute of Technology teaches the skills and perspectives needed for an increasingly interconnected industry through empathic research, compelling user stories, demonstrated economic impact and unique product and service design solutions.

The multidisciplinary nature of design thinking and design research, combined with students with unique academic and professional experiences create an educationally-rich space of interdisciplinary minds within the this program.

The curriculum specializes in fortifying the designer's role in humanizing connections between people and technology, with a focus on the areas of interaction design, healthcare design, service design, product design and user-experience research.

Our students horn their design skills in a multidisciplinary learning environment. For instance, students in the Integrated Product Design course designed a functional, interactive device that enhances the dining experience.

Foodie Bot is an interactive menu system designed to make the ordering process quicker and more accurate, but with a big personality.

Restaurant guests would be able to view a projected menu in front of them, which includes images of the actual food, allowing them to easily visualise and select items from the menu.

The Foodie Bot's "eyes" change shape so that it has different expressions to communicate with guests as it waits for an order. A fully functional prototype was built, tested and validated with users.
