The Architectural Association School of Architecture proudly presents the Moonshot Visiting School in Houston, Texas.
This satellite program, specifically focusing on outer space and computational design, will be hosted at the University of Houston and offers an extraordinary educational journey into the realms of world-building and simulation.
Participants will have the unique opportunity to design and spatially test a lunar village, utilizing cutting-edge tools such as HoudiniFX and Unreal Engine.
AAVS Moonshot operates as a design unit, where students will be taught by tutors who are industry experts who worked on projects for NASA, the European Space Agency (ESA), Epic Games and Star Wars.
The curriculum is thoughtfully designed to weave together design principles for the moon with the experimental nature of a design studio.
Starting with introductory classes in space architecture, the program extends to include detailed tutorials on various software platforms, equipping participants with the skills necessary to excel in the program and beyond.
The main focus of the program will be the design studio where students will generatively design lunar villages for the southern pole of the moon. Working closely with tutors, the students will be exposed to an agile spirit of iterative design and simulation cycles.
Another key feature of AAVS Moonshot includes site visits to NASA and other renowned space companies. Set in a city known for its pivotal role in space research, AAVS Moonshot at the University of Houston is an unmatched opportunity for a deep dive into the world of architectural and design innovation, influenced by the challenges and prospects of space exploration.
