Dezeen Showroom: Finnish company Woodio has added three new spring-inspired colours to its bathroom collection, all made from a wood composite intended to provide a sustainable alternative to ceramics.

The key new colour for Woodio's products is Blossom – a rose-tinted shade that Woodio describes as the "eye-catcher tone of this spring" and a hue for "bold and joyful decorators".

Alongside it are two neutral shades, Mud and Linen, that emphasise the natural origins of the material.

"Using wood as raw material gives us endless colouring possibilities," said Woodio chief technology officer Johanna Normiala. "Our colour selection is what draws attention and makes us stand out from any other sanitaryware brand."

The Woodio line extends to washbasins, toilets, bathtubs and solid panels, all made of a wood composite that the brand says produces half the quantity of carbon emissions as traditional ceramic sanitaryware.

The new shades are available in Woodio's 2mm Aspen woodchip, which originates from Nordic forests certified by the Forest Stewardship Council and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification.
