Maarten De Ceulaer has created Impulse, a gradient wall light.

Impulse deals with the very essence of illumination, by creating a mesmerising dialogue between light and shadow.

These wall lights are abstract volumes that transform completely as soon as they are turned on.

Impulse softly illuminates a space while casting a beautiful gradient of shadows on the wall.

Its effect could only be achieved by exploiting the unique characteristics of LEDs – a very small but powerful light source – making this a true lighting design of our times.

"These wall lights are poetic and functional, but they are more than just lamps, they induce a profound experience of light," said Maarten De Ceulaer.

This project has been longlisted in the lighting design category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
