Maryam Al-Homaid Design Studio has designed the Change is the Only Constant textile series.

Change is the Only Constant by Maryam Al-Homaid is a textile series that intricately captures the Arabian Gulf's transformation over the past 30 years.

Utilising carpets, which hold profound significance in the Arab world, Maryam documents the region's rapid architectural and landscape changes.

"[My] textiles serve as a crucial tool to preserve the nuanced details of the Arabian Gulf's evolving cultural landscape, especially given that our history was not well documented," said Maryam Al-Homaid.

By blending traditional weaving techniques with modern digital design, Maryam creates pieces that reflect the changes of the present and ensure that the stories are remembered in the future.

This project has been longlisted in the textile design category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
