Patrick Bradley Architect has designed Barneys Ruin in Maghera, United Kingdom.

"[Barneys Ruins] demanded an innovative design approach to honour the historic significance of the site," said Patrick Bradley. "The clients were steadfast in their determination to preserve the ruins untouched."

This conviction led to a unique concept: A new house delicately floating above the old, seamlessly weaving through and around the existing.

This approach created a striking juxtaposition between the old and the new, accentuating the rich tapestry of history while embracing the modern era.

By becoming an integral part of the original Irish Clachan, Barneys Ruin serves as a storyteller, continuously weaving together the threads of past and present.

This project has been longlisted in the house (rural) category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
