Levs Architecten has designed Root in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Root is an innovative residential project in Eindhoven designed by Levs Architecten and Boom Landscape – featuring a U-shaped structure that integrates seamlessly with the surrounding forest.

This climate-adaptive, nature-inclusive design includes curved living galleries and spacious balconies, offering an urban treehouse experience by preserving 80% of existing trees.

By utilising traditional materials, including extensive wood elements for external structural components, cladding and interior walls, Root reduces its carbon footprint by 30%.

The project enhances biodiversity, strengthens the local green infrastructure and provides a harmonious living environment connecting residents with nature and the urban fabric.

This project has been longlisted in the housing category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
