Renzo Piano Building Workshop and Brodbeck Roulet have collaborated to develop the CERN Science Gateway Building in Meyrin, Switzerland.
The CERN Science Gateway is a place dedicated to scientific education and outreach to the public.
Located at the entrance of the main CERN site in Meyrin, at the border between France and Switzerland, it is inspired by the organization's unique facilities and ambitions.
A newly grown forest, two tubes floating six metres above street level and three generous solar canopies guarantee the Gateway's energy independence.
Composed primarily of a glazed suspended bridge connecting different pavilions and activities, the Science Gateway welcomes more than 300,000 visitors a year.
This project has been longlisted in the civic project category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
