Fjcstudio has redesigned and transformed the Darlington Public School in Sydney, Australia.

Darlington Public School, a small school located on the fringe of the city of Sydney, has undergone a significant transformation.

Linear brick structures house flexible learning hubs and a multi-purpose hall, while a curvilinear perforated metal screen defines organic movement and gathering areas related to outdoor learning and play.

The redesign prioritises a contemporary learning environment, fostering a safe and inclusive atmosphere for the tight-knit school community.

Acknowledging diverse backgrounds, the design integrates First Nation's culture and artistic heritage, preserving aboriginal artworks with QR codes for ongoing curation.

This project has been longlisted in the education project category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
