Reiser + Umemoto has designed the Kaohsiung Port Terminal in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
The Kaohsiung Port Terminal project seizes the opportunity to seamlessly blend the ostensibly divergent uses of a cruise ship terminal, office tower and public space into a polyfunctional work of civic infrastructure that celebrates the critical threshold between the city and sea.
The new terminal complex will serve the functions of arrivals and departures and port administration and create a new publicly accessible waterfront.
The diverse programming supported by the building allows for a near-constant urban activity that attracts both tourists and locals.
This project has been longlisted in the infrastructure and transport project category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
