Moxon Architects has designed the Dukes Meadow Footbridge in London, United Kingdom.
Dukes Meadows Footbridge is a new pedestrian bridge in Chiswick, West London, positioned beneath the Grade II-listed Barnes Bridge.
Designed by Moxon Architects together with structural engineers COWI, the bridge was constructed by Knights Brown over the course of 2022.
The low-carbon, light-footprint crossing rejuvenates a previously disconnected stretch of the Thames Path, dramatically improving safety, access and pedestrian flow.
The alignment and structure efficiently overcome a host of constraints including a large tidal range, marine traffic, accessible gradients and riverside construction, to create a distinct yet elegant form that sits comfortably below the historic bridge.
This project has been longlisted in the infrastructure and transport project category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
