Topiaris has conceptualised and built the Loures Riverfront in Lisbon, Portugal.

This wetland area, recognised for its migratory birds, was isolated from the surrounding urban and industrial areas, and only perceived from a long distance.

The park connected to the riverside and featured a 6.2-kilometre pile-supported wooden boardwalk complete with bird observation points, resting areas, fishing piers and shaded tunnels.

The park offers different opportunities for rest, leisure and sports, while allowing an immersion within the natural landscape.

Taking inspiration from the meandering drainage lines, the trail avoids straight lines in favour of a gentle, curving path, that allows observation of the habitats from different perspectives.

This project has been longlisted in the landscape and urban design category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
