India Mahdavi has designed the 2023 Melbourne Winter Masterpieces® – Pierre Bonnard exhibition in Melbourne, Australia.

Organised by the NGV together with the Musée d'Orsay (Paris), the exhibition brings late 19th and early 20th-century France to life through paintings and other artworks by Bonnard and his early contemporaries.

The exhibition scenography is like a creative conversation between the artist and the designer.

All elements combine to create an intimate environment, setting the mood for being captivated by Bonnard's palette's magic.

Architect and designer India Mahdavi enveloped Bonnard's works in an environment that complements his distinct use of colour and texture and evokes the wistful domestic intimacy for which his paintings are renowned.

This project has been longlisted in the exhibition design (interior) category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
