Sara Howard Studio has designed Circular Ceramics, a series of ceramic crockery.
Circular Ceramics is the embodiment of symbiotic relationships and material flows that previously did not exist.
"[We] design[ed] a new way of producing ceramics that reduces the harm inflicted on our planet and preserves our precious natural resources without compromising on design," said Sara Howard.
The bespoke local waste stream ecology built specifically for Kevala Ceramics reduces demand for imported mined minerals that may have negative ecological and social impacts related to their extraction.
Retaining these waste sources within the economy also eliminates the risk they may have when disposed of and prolongs the lifespan of finite minerals.
This project has been shortlisted in the sustainable design (consumer) category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
