Shortlisted for Dezeen Awards 2024 emerging designer of the year, Nifemi Marcus-Bello is founder of Lagos-based design practice Nmbello Studio. 

The studio tries to remove pre-existing ideas and allow the process to dictate the design of their products, freeing themselves for an opportunity to be reintroduced to the familiar and commonplace.

As a design studio based in Africa they embrace humility in order to benefit from what the continent has to offer, specifically Africa's deep sense of spirituality rooted to people and place. Nmbello Studio aims to learn from African design traditions.

Recent completed projects of theirs include a bamboo modular kiosk and an installation that calls attention to the dangerous journeys of undocumented migrants from Africa to Europe.

Nmbello Studio has been shortlisted in the emerging designer of the year category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
