Dezeen Showroom: high performance meets natural textures in US brand Designtex's Facet fabric, which features a pattern of fine linework over a woven-look background.

Facet is part of Designtex's Wayside collection, which is made of 100 per cent polycarbonate-based polyurethane – a highly durable material even in high-traffic environments.

At the same time, the collection avoids the flat look typical of these fabrics and instead adopts an organic texture based on handwoven textiles.

The Facet design is a coated reinterpretation of a woven fabric called Net from Designtex's Biophilic collection.

It features a network of fine light lines that form a branching triangular pattern across the fabric's surface. The pattern nods to fractals, a natural phenomenon that is recorded to produce a calming effect on humans.

Available in 16 colours, the Facet fabric is Greenguard Gold certified and low VOC, and contains no antimicrobials, flame retardants, PFAS or solvents.
