The Haikou Jiangdong Beach Park project transforms a solid sea wall and deserted fish farm in Haikou City, Hainan, into a climate-resilient public space.

Spanning 370 hectares along 3.72 kilometres of beach, the Breathing Sea Wall combats environmental challenges like sea level rise and habitat degradation.

This project innovates by converting the concrete barrier into a vegetated, terraced structure to encourage growth and accessibility while improving ecological connectivity.

It integrates stormwater management, ecosystem restoration, and recreational facilities.

This sustainable urban design serves as a model for addressing climate change, blending community needs with environmental restoration.
