BA (Hons) Architecture at the University of Brighton

The BA (Hons) Architecture course at the University of Brighton offers students a range of approaches to architectural design practices.

School: University of Brighton
Course: BA (Hons) Architecture
Location: Brighton, UK
Course dates: September 2025 to June 2028
Application deadline: 15 August 2025

The BA (Hons) Architecture course offers a wide range of design approaches offering opportunities to work at different scales, from one-to-one installations to urban scale interventions.

The course has maintained a balance between analogue and digital modes of drawing and model making. We have strengthened our agenda related to environmental challenges, introducing coursework focused on retrofitting and rehabilitating existing buildings.

A commitment to social issues is reflected through project briefs, live projects and engagement with local communities.

Also included are technology modules that support sustainable design, culminating in an integrated design and technology module in the third year. Second and third year students have the opportunity to study side-by-side in vertical studios, which focus on diverse sites, programs and specialisations.

Students in all studios are encouraged to challenge standard approaches in the discipline through our research-led teaching, which provides them with up-to-date critical and practical skills to address contemporary challenges.

Our history and theory modules examine broader contextual issues that impact architectural production, such as gender inequalities, race, labour and environmental concerns. Our focus on the social aspects of architecture underlines our understanding of the field as a social discipline.
