Alexander Wang designs furniture range for Poltrona Frau
Fashion designer Alexander Wang has launched a collection of limited-edition furniture for Italian brand Poltrona Frau, including bean-bag chairs and a drinks cabinet (+ slideshow).
Following in the footsteps of fellow fashion designer Rick Owens, Alexander Wang has designed a range of limited-edition pieces that echo the style of his clothing designs.
The creative director of both French fashion house Balenciaga and his eponymous label, Wang teamed up with Poltrona Frau for his first foray into furniture to produce the black and brass designs.
Upholstered in either black leather or velvet fabric – materials Wang commonly uses in his fashion collections – the two bean-filled chairs sit on top of brass bases that look like upside-down crenellations.
The rounded seats are shaped so the back is raised slightly higher that the front, designed to support the sitter.
Brass is also used to line the inner edges of a black trunk bar, which opens to reveal two shelves for drinks in each half.
The brass is visible as a thin seam that runs in a line around the outside of the cuboid form, incorporating the hinge.
The designs will be available at Poltrona Frau showrooms and select Alexander Wang stores from April.
