World Architecture Festival 2015: the orange, yellow and green tones of a building in Switzerland are captured in this shot by Fernando Guerra, which has been named best architectural photograph of the year.

Lisbon-based Fernando Guerra was the overall winner in the 2015 Arcaid Images Architectural Photography Awards, which was announced as part of the World Architecture Festival in Singapore last week.

His shot of EPFL Quartier Nord, a new mixed-use building in Ecublens by Richter Dahl Rocha & Associés, was selected ahead of images of buildings by architects including Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, OMA and SANAA.

Winners were chosen by a panel of judges including architect duo Barozzi/Veiga, Foster + Partners partner and head of communications Katy Harris, architect Ian Moore and photography duo Hufton + Crow, who were last year's winners with a photo of Zaha Hadid's Heydar Aliyev Center.

Guerra will receive a $3,000 (£1,985) prize. The photographer also had three other images in the 12-strong shortlist – two depicting an island building that has since been destroyed by a volcano, and one showing a house in Portugal.

Four category winners have also been announced. Chinese photographer Su Shengliang topped both the Interiors and Exteriors categories with her shots of Atelier Deshaus' Long Museum West Bund in Shanghai.

A foliage-covered hotel in a Sri Lankan jungle came out top in the Sense of Place group, while a view looking up at the Yick Cheong Building in Hong Kong's Quarry Bay was selected in the Buildings In Use section.

The winning image and a selection of the shortlisted entries will go on show in London next year at Sto Werkstatt, running from 5 February to 25 March 2016.
