Steven Holl
Last year American Steven Holl was finally given planning permission for a pair of skyscrapers linked by a vertiginous cycle path in Copenhagen.
The bridge, which is set to soar 65 metres above the mouth of the city's harbour, has been in the pipeline for eight years. But it got the go-ahead as Copenhagen's regeneration plans gain momentum.
This was by far Holl's most popular project among readers over the year, although the outspoken column he wrote for us last year, in which he attacked the inequality exemplified by the super-skinny luxury apartment towers sprouting across New York, remained highly trafficked.
