Amsterdam firm UNStudio made news this year when it completed a two decade-long project to design a new station for the Dutch city Arnhem.

When we published a set of photographs of the curvaceous Arnhem station taken by Hufton + Crow it gave the story a second wind.

This year UNStudio competed against Richard Rogers and Norman Foster for the contract for Taiwan airport – with Rogers coming out on top.

And the studio also revealed its plans to build a new theatre in the Dutch city of Den Bosch and completed its first building in Belgium. Like many of UNStudio's projects, the facade of the residential block in Brussels is its defining feature – in this case bulbous golden balconies are surrounded by curving concrete frames.
