Whitney Museum of American Art

Renzo Piano's new home for the Whitney Museum of American Art opened in New York in April 2015 and it's no surprise the controversial building makes it onto our Hot List.

The nine-storey building, located in the Meatpacking district, divided opinion when it first opened, with critics describing it as "ungainly" and "more clunky than romantic".

New Yorkers seem to have warmed to it though, and the unusual graphic identity by Experimental Jetset and a special commemorative handbag designed by Piano were also popular with our readers.
