Design Museum
Founded by designer and retailer Terence Conran in 1989, London's Design Museum hosts exhibitions on product, industrial, graphic, fashion and architectural design.
After a lifetime located in a former 1940s banana warehouse in Shad Thames, the museum is due to relocate to a new John Pawson-designed home in November 2016, a move that has brought the institution a lot of attention in the last year.
The Design Museum's new premises on Kensington High Street previously housed the Commonwealth Institute, a protected 1960s building. Pawson's conversion of the structure will triple the museum's current exhibition capacity.
OMA and Allies and Morrison also worked to redevelop the Grade II* listed building in west London, adding three blocks of private housing that helped to fund its transformation into the design institution's new home.
