Alex Mustonen

Alex Mustonen is the co-founder of New York design studio Snarkitecture.

Mustonen studied at the Irwin S Chanin School of Architecture at the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York. He later co-founded Snarkitecture, a collaborative design studio that investigates the boundaries between disciplines.

Snarkitecture has a conceptual approach centered on the importance of experience. The studio’s reinterpretation of everyday structures and materials invite people to engage and explore with their surroundings to new and imaginative effect.

The studio name was taken from Lewis Carroll’s poem The Hunting of The Snark, which describes the “impossible voyage of an improbable crew to find an inconceivable creature.” Snarkitecture searches for the unknown through their work; installations, objects and large-scale projects.
