Studioilse was asked to design a beautiful home for Refettorio Felix, a community kitchen, dining hall and drop-in centre in the former St Cuthberts.
The aim was to make a space that would show that people cared. "The gesture of sitting down to a meal and breaking bread together is the first step toward rebuilding dignity and creating community” says FFS Founder, Massimo Bottura. We made a design to support this. Working with a tight budget (£37, 500) we focused on interventions that would have the most impact to create a warm and comfortable space that would encourage people to stay and talk.
