The Wadden Sea Centre, located in Ribe, Denmark, considers both the environment and history, using a traditional thatched roofing technique with a decidedly contemporary take.
The centre is built using soft, textural, sculpturally processed reeds with long precision cuts, creating eaves, covered areas, and intersections between diagonal and vertical surfaces. The building not only pays homage to regional materials and craftsmanship, but offers an intriguing architectural, cultural and educational space.
