Atang Tshikare
South African multidisciplinary creative Atang Tshikare is founder of design studio Zabalazaa Design.
Tshikare founded Cape Town studio Zabalazaa Design in 2010. The studio produces sculptural furniture and has worked with a wide range of designers and brands including BMW, PUMA and Adidas Originals. In 2017 Tshikare collaborated with local studio Okha to create glass and bronze tables and designed a chair made from scorched timber and woven grass in collaboration with Eve Collett.
The artist and designer takes inspiration from South African cultures, creating sculptures by hand in a wide range of mediums including fibreglass, wood and bronze. Tshikare's work has been exhibited worldwide including at Design Days Dubai, Design Miami, Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa and he has exhibited limited edition work at the Southern Guild since 2012.
Tshikare was the recipient of the Design Foundation Future Found Award in 2014.
