Shortlisted for sustainable design of the year at Dezeen Awards 2019, Anima - Memorial Service by Studio Kosuke Araki is a series of tableware handcrafted from food waste.

This tea or coffee service is named Memorial Service in tribute to the "wasted" lives of vegetables and animals. Eating generally means taking lives of other living things, so Studio Kosuke Araki encourage us to rethink our relationship with nature and food. Although some of food waste produced by industry or each home is processed into something useful, most of it is being thrown away as waste, ending in landfills and contributing to environmental problems. Anima serves the user with an opportunity of reflect on this.
