Shortlisted for restaurant and bar interior of the year at Dezeen Awards 2019, Bar Lotus by Office AIO is a cocktail bar featuring emerald green walls and rippling rose gold ceilings.

Bar Lotus is situated in the sycamore tree-lined neighbourhood of Jing’an, Shanghai. The site was previously used as a back of house kitchen, which consisted of two staggered rectangular volumes and had no openings on the street-facing facade before being transformed into a cocktail bar, which can also be used as a cafe during the day.

The designers created an entrance on this street-facing facade that leads to a long corridor. This long arched hallway divides the interior spaces into two main parts acting as a connecting space for the two rooms.

White perforated steel panels line the interior of the central hallway and sliding mirrored walls cover the arched entrances to the cocktail bar.
