Shortlisted for small interior of the year at Dezeen Awards 2019, The Children's Library at Concourse House by Michael K Chen Architecture serves a population of children who do not have access to their own books.
This library is situated in a shelter for women with children who are transitioning out of homelessness in New York.
Michael K Chen Architecture has transformed a dark and underused storage mezzanine into a warm and multifunctional space for reading, stories, and exploration through soft and colourful forms, shelving with integrated lighting, and custom furnishings.
