Shortlisted for business building of the year at Dezeen Awards 2019, The Glass Fortress by Archismith is a sales office that has been built using 20,000 glass bricks.
Bangkok architecture studio Archismith designed the glass brick structure with a secret garden enclosed in the middle. The main building of the sales gallery is set back from the busy street with a protruding block acting as an entrance pavilion and enclosing the garden. In line with the large green space provided at the main development as a strong selling point, the sale office sets aside some of its land along the street to become a pocket park in a bustling urban area. The facade changes according to the amount of sunlight and the shifting shadows of the trees. At night, the glass blocks are illuminated turning them into a giant glass lantern.
